Many years ago, I used to race bicycles and I still love it, but now mostly from the sidelines. I remember it well though. Every year the girls, boys, women and men of the cycling world dust of their 'cross bikes, put on some knobbly tyres and gather come rain or shine for the winter cyclocross series. Gruelling races in freezing cold after days of rain and with mud everywhere. It is the hard winter training that sorts out the winners from the rest when the spring and summer race season starts. Cyclocross events take place in parks and woodlands with a mass start and lots of crashes.
It's a long, long way from the sun drenched Avenue des Champs- Elyses in July! Thanks to all who, at the end of the punishing races, stood in the cold for my camera.
Chapeau! to you all.
