'Dreich' is an old Scottish word that my grandmother used to use that describes perfectly those unique damp, grey, incessantly dull British conditions when the all the light seems to be sucked out of the world. Along with the light, the conditions seem to strip colour from the scene and leave a strangely monochrome world only accentuated by the odd glimpse of artificial colour.
I love it.
People say you don't go to Scotland for the weather....
....but I do.
Just not the kind of weather holiday makers might be looking for.
